Payton, Walter (Jerry)

Jugador estadounidense de fútbol americano. Jugó en la Jackson State University y, entre 1975 y 1987, en los Chicago Bears, de la NFL. Se retiró como líder de todos los tiempos en lo referente a yardas combinadas (corridas, corridas en devolución de despejes y pases recibidos: 21.803 yd), a temporadas con 1.000 o más yardas corridas (diez) y yardas corridas (16.726). En 2002, su récord de yardas corridas a lo largo de su trayectoria fue superado por Emmitt Smith y el de yardas combinadas por Jerry Rice. Payton es considerado uno de los mejores corredores de la historia del fútbol americano.
